Miami, FL (December 17, 2024) – When it seems that Los Ángeles Azules have achieved it all, they reach new levels of success: the band from Iztapalapa has made it to the prestigious TOP 10 of the most-watched videos on the VEVO platform worldwide this year with the song “Perdonarte, ¿para qué?” Feat. Emilia, sharing this honor with artists such as Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, Sabrina Carpenter, Ariana Grande, Eminem, and Kendrick Lamar, among others.
The song, written by Horacio Palencia, Andy Clay, and Richard Torres and produced by Rodolfo Lugo, speaks of a love that comes and goes but returns when it’s already too late. It is accompanied by the signature cumbia rhythm of the Mejía Avante brothers and the beautiful voice of the Argentine singer.
The video was filmed in Mexico City under the direction of Christian Schmid and produced by Laura Velez (Nomad Media). It tells the story of a singer aspiring to become the vocalist of Los Ángeles Azules, showing her journey from audition to her first performance with the band, with Emilia being the one chosen by the group.
“Perdonarte, ¿para qué?” has broken more records for the group. Following its release, the song reached the Top 3 on iTunes’ general song chart and climbed to top positions on YouTube Trends in several Latin American countries, including Bolivia, Argentina, Uruguay, Peru, Chile, Ecuador, and, of course, Mexico, as well as in Spain. Additionally, it ranked in Spotify’s Top 10 in several countries, including Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, and Paraguay, while also entering the platform’s Global Top 200 and reaching #1 on the radio charts in Argentina.
Hailing from Iztapalapa, Los Ángeles Azules are the leading global exponents of cumbia, bringing their music to the most important international stages and festivals, such as Vive Latino and Coachella. They are the first Mexican group to join YouTube’s Billion Views Club and the only Mexican group to have two videos exceeding one billion views, with the clips for “Nunca es suficiente” Feat. Natalia Lafourcade (+2 billion views) and “Mis sentimientos” Feat. Ximena Sariñana.
With over 17 million monthly listeners, Los Ángeles Azules are ranked among Spotify’s top 500 most-streamed artists worldwide, taking their music across the continent and performing in major cities in Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, and the United States, among others.
This year, Los Ángeles Azules received two significant international recognitions: the Hispanic Heritage Award in the Arts category from the Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF) and the Award for Musical Excellence at the 2024 Latin Grammy Awards.
