MATISSE AND OSCAR ORTIZ PRESENT "APLAUSO"
AN ANTHEM TO HEARTBREAK THAT REMINDS US THE PAST IS MORE ALIVE THAN EVER
MIAMI, FL (June 20, 2024) – After delighting their fans and paying tribute to Shakira with the successful new version of “No,” Matisse join forces with the voice and charisma of Oscar Ortiz to release “Aplauso”—an anthem that brings to mind the great hits of the 1980s, but speaks directly to today’s broken hearts ready to move on.
This powerful collaboration is inspired by the magic of iconic songs performed by legendary artists such as José José, Luis Miguel, and Juan Gabriel, among others. Yet it arrives with a modern twist—infused with Latin flair, orchestral arrangements, pop hooks, and the fresh, commanding vocals of Matisse and Oscar Ortiz.
The lyrics of “Aplauso” beautifully reflect the exceptional blend of Matisse’s unique style with the sparkle of Oscar Ortiz, while expressing the strength that pours out of a heart in pain: “Here’s an applause for the one who’s heartbroken and deeply in love, for the one who’s not loved back and walks around wounded. An applause for the one who goes around looking like a fool, heart shattered—just like mine.”
“Oscar Ortiz is a young guy with so much drive and incredible talent, and of course, he’s doing amazingly well. We also felt it was the perfect combination to create a song with this old-school sound, paired with a much fresher, more current voice. It’s cool to be able to create these blends and build bridges so that younger audiences can also discover this kind of music,” said Melissa Robles.
“Aplauso” is released alongside an official music video that captures the pain of a heartbroken lover at the end of a relationship, yet filled with pride for having loved. In the video, we see the band members together with Oscar Ortiz celebrating among friends, trying to drown their sorrows as they come to terms with a lost love—yet standing tall, proud, and free.
This new single is a clear example of why Matisse continue to resonate deeply with fans and proves they still have a long and promising musical journey ahead, one that’s bound to be full of success and recognition.
